Today during a routine inspection we found a termite mound on top of a retaining wall. During long wet spells or periods of heavy rain, nests can just appear out of nowhere. We asked the tenants and they mentioned the mound wasn’t there when they checked last week. The moisture likely made it easier for them to snack on the retaining wall. Luckily this particular species are seldom destructive to homes and prefer to remain in the timbers in the garden.
