Here at Conquer Termites Northside we come across various types of termite prevention including pre-construction systems, post-construction systems and systems to suit your next renovation.

One job I worked on several years ago is a pre-construction job in Hamilton. The reason I bring up this specific job, apart from the fact I was there today for a pest control which jogged my memory, is to bring to your attention that it not as simple as showing up to a site, installing the product and leaving at the end of the day.  

This job requires planning and liaising with the customer, the builder and the tradesmen on site in order to achieve the required or desired outcomes. 

Our customer was building a duplex from scratch, so we had to do the work in 4 stages. Before the slab gets poured, we need to install Homeguard collars to all the plumbing penetrations and Homeguard Blue sheeting between the block-wall footings and the internal slab. After the internal slab is poured we need to install Homeguard Blue sheeting to the top of the block-wall footings and slab edge where the patio and driveway slabs join.  After the patio and driveway slabs are poured we have to install Homeguard TMB sheeting to the internal walls after the block walls are erected and before the internal walls are sheeted.  All of this has to be timed carefully so as no steps are missed, sometimes things don’t go according to plan, or the plans are changed during construction due to unforeseen circumstances, and it is not easy back track once a slab has been poured or a wall has been installed.

Once all of this is complete there is the paperwork side of things, the Certificate Of Installation, the Form 43 and the installation of the treatment labels.

Thankfully this job went as smooth as it could have gone and although this treatment was installed 9 years ago, we are still returning annually for their termite inspections and pest control.
